ECOTOURISM
The Nemea River runs along the Municipality, specifically to the west of the villages of Soulinari and Chalkio, which makes the area more fertile and ideal for the cultivation of vines, citrus fruits and olives
HISTORICAL TOURISM
Remains of an altar in honor of Apesantius Zeus have been found on the top of Phokas. A large number of ceramics from the Geometric Age (4th century BC) have come to light, proving the existence of a place of worship.
In the area of Fokas, ruins of a medieval wall, settlement and castle that oversaw the wider area of Corinth have also been discovered, probably a Venetian building.
RELIGIOUS TOURISM
It is worth visiting the church of Agia Marina in Velo, built in 1888. The shape of the church is reminiscent of Agia Sophia in Constantinople.
The most important religious monument is the Byzantine church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in the Tarsina area, which seems to have been built at the end of the 12th century.
Just outside the village of Kalendzi, on the top of the mountain, there is the small church of Panagia (Zoodochou Pigi), built around 700 AD inside a rock, which is worth visiting.
WINE TOURISM
Visit one of the area’s wineries to taste unique varieties of wine (white, red, rosé, semi-sweet), to see up close the beautiful vineyards and the wine-making process.
FESTIVALS
Stimaga Grape Festival: In the village every year, at the beginning of September, the Grape Festival takes place, a celebration that is linked to the centuries-old tradition of the residents’ relationship with the cultivation of vines.
Festival of Agia Paraskevi Vrachati: On July 25, the eve of the feast of Agia Paraskevi and also on July 26 in Vrachati, a big festival is held with music, drink and of course plenty of food.
Saint Fanourios festival Velo: On August 26, a great festival is held in honor of Saint Fanouri in which those who are there will taste both grilled meats and traditional pies.
Stimaga Carnival: The settlement is famous for the carnival that takes place every year, in which a large number of residents from the surrounding areas participate.
