Zagora: this is the largest settlement, with a population of almost 2000 inhabitants, and seat of the municipality of Zagora - Mouresi at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level. It is located at 47 km from Volos and 250 km from Thessaloniki. Zagora is considered the financial center of the Municipality, as it is famous for its apples, which also hold a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). At the same time, a large part of the residents is currently engaged in tourism with a large number of tourist accommodation and catering businesses located in the settlement. Horefto: coastal village of the Municipality, about 100 inhabitants but with a rich history. The village is connected to the shipping trade of Zagora which flourished from the beginning of the 17th century until about the middle of the 20th. Today the village is the fishing center of the area and has a shelter for boats used by fishermen. In Horefto, it is worth visiting the old temple of Agios Nikolaos with its excellent paintings and by boat the ancient caves, where a large part of Xerxes' fleet was wrecked during the Persian wars in 480 BC.
